Jetlagged
Los Angeles, CA:
And we have arrived! We’re in LA, jetlagged and all, but we made it.
We left the house around 7.45am yesterday, took a bus and trains to Duesseldorf Airport. Check in went smoothly but there were no more window seats, which turned out to be fine cuz we ended up having 4 seats to ourselves. Boarding was very chaotic and what seemed to be a bit unnecessary.
The flight was, well, LONG. We were lucky (and happy!) that, since they closed Amsterdam and London airports, we were still able to take off. We ended up flying a bit North of Iceland to go around the ash cloud. The flight took 11 hours and about 25 minutes. Once we got off the plane, we had to get in line to go through Homeland Security, which was fun, especially after waiting in line for literally 1,5 hours. We went together and they asked us what our relation was, how long we planned on staying and if it was our first time here, yes or no. Went smoothly, as in: he believed us :P
Then it was finally time to get out of the airport! After we got our suitcases and got in line (read: cut the line) for customs. Took a bus to the National Car Rental counter. Checked in, and then we could go and pick a car. Unfortunately no more Pontiac G6 was available but a few other nice cars. We ended up picking a 2008 Ford Focus (sportsback) in a verrrry pretty bright metallic blue color. We’ll take pictures today.
We drove to the hotel, checked in and went to our room, which is very nice. We got a gorgeous view of LAX. We took a well-needed shower and were just happy to be able to sit down and stretch our legs. We waited for Noelle’s friend Jon to come over and say hi. We chilled a bit, went to Coffee Bean to grab some drinks and after walking Jon to his car, we went to Ralph’s (grocery store) which is right next door to buy some soda and snacks. We fell asleep around 11pm. Woke up around 4, couldn’t sleep anymore (jetlagged!) and now it’s 6am and we’re writing a blog :)
Going to Hollywood today, to another hotel. Probably do some shopping and drive/walk around town. Talk later! :)
